The Met Gala 2024

Well, the Met Gala last night was a real eye-popper! One of the best in quite a while. And not because of the cray-cray that shows up every year—although I don’t mind that. I probably looked a little out-of-pocket to some myself last night. It’s the classics that I love. JLo in Schiaperelli. Nicole Kidman in Balenciaga. I liked Kim Kardashian’s gown by Maison Margiela but the deal with the cardigan? What was that? And both Venus Williams and Keke Palmer looked lovely in Marc Jacobs. But Venus…go get your sister.
Sarah Jessica Parker brought her usual whimsy to the carpet in a Richard Quinn ensom but didn’t stay for dinner. Why? She couldn’t sit in the gown. And Zendaya brought it full force in a Galliano. Loved all of that drama! But the switcheroo into the Givenchy seemed a little spotlight-grabby to me. No need, babygirl.
Special shoutout to the divine Mr. Colman Domingo in Willy Chavarria. And Jeff Goldblum walked the carpet for the first time in something Oz-like from his closet. He’s a wizard.
When I heard the theme, fairies and flowers instantly came to mind. Valentino’s 2019 Spring Collection. The bubble gown in particular, with the big-ass bow, like wings, in back. What better time to wear it? There was room for not only my dinner and dessert but SJP’s dessert, too. Yummy. The thigh-grazing boots in magenta were custom-made in Barcelona many years ago. And Lisa McFadden always comes through! She topped me off in her Butterfly Crush cap. Like butta.
So another Gala is done, dolls! And no apologies are necessary, Anna. SMOOCHES!
